Get the game
Download
The full client — 2.8 GB download, 5.8 GB installed. Grab it from any mirror below, then follow the 5 steps. Nothing else to install, and setup takes about five minutes once the download finishes. The launcher patches itself from here on, so this is the only time you download the whole thing.

Download the client archive
One file, S.U.N Reborn.rar, from any mirror above — they are all the same. This is the complete game — the launcher inside it handles updates from then on, so you should not need to download this archive again. You will need 7-Zip or WinRAR to open it, as Windows cannot extract .rar files on its own. Nothing else has to be installed: every library the game needs, including the DirectX 9 file Windows 10 and 11 no longer ship, is inside the archive.

Extract Here — not into Program Files, not into OneDrive
Move the archive to the drive you want to play from and choose Extract Here, not "Extract to S.U.N Reborn\". The archive already contains that folder, so Extract Here gives you exactly one clean copy. Put it somewhere you can write to, such as C:\S.U.N Reborn or C:\Games\S.U.N Reborn. Avoid Program Files, where Windows blocks writes, and avoid any folder synced by OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive — including Documents and Desktop if those are synced — because the sync client will churn through 5.8 GB and can lock files while the game is reading them. You need about 9 GB free while extracting, since the archive and the extracted folder are both on disk at once.

Check Launcher.exe sits next to Data and System
If your extractor nested the folder inside itself, move the inner one up a level. The game does not care what the folder is called or where it lives, only that Launcher.exe and Sungame.exe are in the same folder as Data\ and System\. Never run the game from inside the archive — the client reads thousands of files from Data\ at runtime and they have to be real files on disk.

Register an account here
Your account is created on this website, not in the game. Pick an account name of 3–12 letters and numbers, a password, and a second security password — that security password is the only thing that proves the account is yours if you lose access, so write it down. No email address and no payment details are asked for.

Run Launcher.exe as Administrator
Windows will ask for permission — click Yes. The original client was built to require elevation; that is not something this server added. Launcher.exe checks for updates, applies them, then starts the game; if it cannot reach the update server it just starts the game anyway, so a failed check never stops you playing. Log in with the account name and password you registered, pick a channel, and create a character.
Launcher.exe is the only thing you ever run — there is no launcher and no updater to start first. It requires Administrator rights, which is how the original game was built, not something added here. If it closes immediately, right-click it and choose Run as administrator.
If something goes wrong
- The window flashes and closes, or nothing happens at all
- Almost always the Administrator prompt being declined or dismissed. Right-click Launcher.exe and choose Run as administrator.
- d3dx9_40.dll was not found
- That file ships inside the archive, so this means the extraction was incomplete or your antivirus removed it. Extract the archive again. If it survives that, install Microsoft's DirectX End-User Runtime.
- Your copy has a SUN.exe in it
- It is an old download. SUN.exe was the original Korean publisher's launcher and points at servers shut down years ago. Delete it and run Launcher.exe — current downloads no longer include it.
- Antivirus flagged the client or deleted a file
- A false positive. This client has no anti-cheat and no DRM — nothing is installed into your system — but an unsigned 2008 binary is exactly what heuristics dislike. Add the folder as an exclusion and re-extract anything quarantined.
- Missing textures, or a crash when changing zone
- Almost always an incomplete extraction. Check the folder really holds about 5.8 GB, and extract it again if not.
- The game window is the wrong size or off-screen
- Open 3dsetup.ini in the game folder with Notepad and edit the [Screen] section. Set MaximizeScreen=0 if you want your own Width and Height to be used.
- It worked yesterday and does not now
- Check whether the folder ended up inside OneDrive or another sync client. Move it to a plain local folder such as C:\S.U.N Reborn.
