GuidesAuto-hunting

Auto-hunting

Auto-hunting lets your character pick its own fights, and with the Full scroll it will work through your quests for you. It is built into the game and switched on by a scroll you keep in your bag. Be aware before you read on: right now there is no way to get that scroll. It is not in the shop, and nothing in the game drops it or hands it out.

Unlocking it

The two scrolls

Auto-hunting only works while you carry a scroll with time on it. There are two, and the difference between them is what the bot is allowed to do.

Auto-Hunting Scroll (Basic)

Hunt

Unlocks Auto Hunt: your character chooses its own targets and fights them with its own skills.

Hunt + Quest

Everything the Basic scroll does, plus Auto Quest, which takes your character through its main and side quests on its own.

Both scrolls need level 50. Below that the scroll will not switch on. A scroll’s time starts counting the first time you right-click it, not when it lands in your bag, so one you are keeping for later loses nothing while it waits.

There is currently no way to obtain either scroll. Neither one is listed in the shop, no monster drops one, and no quest or NPC gives one out. Everything below describes how the system works in the game as it stands.

Step by step

Switching it on

Everything happens from the scroll in your bag and a small bar that appears on your screen. There is no NPC involved.

  1. 1

Keep the scroll in your bag

Its description still says it goes in a Cash Slot. Ignore that — the on-switch only works on a scroll that is in your bag, and one worn in a Cash Slot cannot be switched back on after you log out.
  2. 2

    Right-click it

The first right-click starts the scroll’s time and switches auto-hunting on in one go. The auto-hunting bar appears on your screen and “Auto-Hunting: on.” shows in chat.
  3. 3

Press the start icon on the bar

The large icon on the left starts the bot and stops it again. The caption beside it tells you both things at a glance: Running or Paused, then Hunt or Quest. If you never picked a mode, it starts in Hunt.
  4. 4

Right-click the scroll again to switch off

On a scroll that is already running, a right-click turns auto-hunting off and on, the way a badge works. Switching off stops the bot and takes the bar away.
  5. 5

Switch it back on after every login

The switch is not remembered between sessions. Each time you log in, auto-hunting starts off and the bar stays hidden until you right-click the scroll.

The bar

Four buttons and a caption

The bar is the whole control panel. It only shows while you carry a started scroll and have switched it on.

ButtonWhat it does
Start / stop iconStarts the bot, or stops it. It stays lit while the bot is running.
CogwheelOpens the mode list. Auto Hunt and Auto Quest are the two you can pick; Auto Tower, Auto Colosseum and Auto Mission are listed too, greyed out and marked not built yet.
EXP plaqueOpens Auto-hunting Outcome: the experience and heim you have earned since you last pressed start.
EmblemSwitches between Hunt and Quest. It only responds while the bot is paused.
The same Auto-hunting Outcome window also opens by itself every time the bot stops. With a Basic scroll the Auto Quest row in the mode list stays greyed out.

Auto Hunt

How it fights

Auto Hunt fights where you are standing. You do not hand it a skill list: when it starts, it reads your character’s own skills, works out what each one is for, and uses it for that.

Choosing a target

It goes for the nearest monster, and anything already attacking you comes first. It walks into range before it attacks, and picks a skill that can actually reach from where it is standing, so a melee character closes the distance instead of standing still.

Skills, heals and buffs

Your skills are sorted into single-target attacks, area attacks, heals and buffs. If your class has a healing skill, it is used when your HP falls to half or below. Your own buffs are kept up, and a buff is not cast again within twenty seconds of the last time.

Getting unstuck

If it makes no progress on a monster for eight seconds — no movement, no hits landing — it leaves that monster alone for thirty seconds and picks another. A long fight against something with a lot of health does not count as stuck, as long as it is still swinging.

When it stops on its own

The moment the scroll runs out, or leaves your bag — sold, traded, dropped or put in storage — the bot stops and the bar goes away. It does not keep fighting on borrowed time.

Full scroll only

Auto Quest

The Full scroll adds a second mode. Auto Quest works through your main and side quests by itself, and while it is selected it does nothing else — no grinding for experience and no trips to the shop.

  1. 1

Hand in anything that is finished

It walks to the NPC who takes the quest — you have to be standing next to them, just as when you hand in by hand — and claims the reward. Where a quest offers a choice of reward, it always takes the first one.
  2. 2

Work an objective on the map you are on

Kill or gather targets for a quest you already have, right here.
  3. 3

Travel to where your other quests are

If a quest you already hold wants you somewhere else, it heads there before taking anything new, so it finishes what is in your log instead of collecting more.
  4. 4

Take the next step of the story

Only when nothing in your log needs doing does it go and pick up a new quest.

How it travels

The way you would: it walks to the portal or waypoint and uses it from there, never from wherever it happens to be standing. It will not try a portal that needs an item you are not carrying, a quest you have not finished, or a level you do not have. It does not stop to fight things on the way.

If it cannot get somewhere, it sets that quest aside for five minutes and gets on with the rest, so one quest it cannot reach does not stall everything behind it. A portal that turns it away is left alone for five minutes too.

Reading the status line

While Auto Quest is running, a line under the bar says what it is doing:

  • · Quest: handing in
  • · Quest: working the objective
  • · Quest: travelling to — and the map it is heading for
  • · Quest: taking the next step — picking up a new quest
  • · Quest: no route to — a map it cannot find a way to
  • · Quest: nothing to do

Others can tell

The marker over your head

Other players see a marker above you: a turning cyan-and-white targeting reticle, with no lettering on it.

It shows to everyone around you whenever you carry a scroll whose time has started — whether the bot is running, paused or switched off. So it means “this character has auto-hunting”, not “this character is auto-hunting right now”. On your own screen it appears while auto-hunting is switched on.

It sits above the other badges and the ranking medal rather than on top of them, so it does not hide anything you are already wearing.

Limits

What it will not do

The scroll’s description still lists loot filters, potions, pet feed, resting, auto-revive, returning to town, selling, restocking and party rules. None of those can be set from the current bar, and all of them stay off.

Left to you

  • · It does not go and collect loot.
  • · It does not drink potions or feed your pet.
  • · It does not sit down to rest.
  • · It does not go back to town to sell, repair or restock.
  • · It does not answer party invitations for you.

Worth knowing

  • · The on-switch is forgotten when you log out.
  • · Quest rewards with a choice always come out as the first option.
  • · Only Hunt and Quest work; the other three modes in the list cannot be picked.
It will not revive you. If your character dies, it stays down and waits for you to choose how to come back. And since it uses no potions, a character whose class has no healing skill will fight until it drops — keep an eye on your health, especially somewhere the monsters hit hard.
