Levelling

Every character on S.U.N Reborn can level all the way to 177 from the moment it is created. There is no class change to earn first. This page covers where to hunt at every level, what a kill is really worth, what else pays experience, and how steep the road gets past 100.

The cap

177, from the moment you create a character

The level cap is 177. The game does have a lower cap of 115 for a character that has not made its first class change, but every character here is created with that change already made. The only thing between you and 177 is experience. There is no change-up quest to find at level 100.

At 177 the bar stops

Once you reach the cap, experience from every source stops counting. It is not saved up for later. Kills, quests and missions still pay their heim and items, but the bar does not move again.

Dying costs no experience

Being killed never takes experience away, at any level, so you can try a harder area without risking your progress. What dying does cost is covered in Your first hour.

Where to level

A hunting ground for every level

These are the open-world areas in level order, with the levels shown on most of their monsters’ name plates. Hunt somewhere whose monsters are within three levels of your own and every kill pays full value. The areas overlap closely enough that every level from 1 to 176 has somewhere like that.

Monster levels cover the bulk of each area’s population. The lowest and highest tenth are left off, and so are bosses and rare spawns, which usually sit a few levels above the rest. The four Helron’s Castle areas are floors of the castle itself. At 127 to 130, where no area’s main range lands, the top of Helron’s Castle and the Kortoq Coastline both have monsters within three levels of you.

Areas that open straight off a town

  • Waldchen · Zapir Lake
  • Tringel · Incomplete Memorial
  • Etherain · East Sewer of Maze, Sanctuary of Fortress, Grave of Ancient Dragon
  • Aukra · Graveyard of Pain, Nirvelle Swamp
  • Kortoq · Kortoq Coastline, Galenoa Jungle, Noble Scarlet Cave
  • Esmara Village · Old Esmara

Every character starts in Waldchen, so Zapir Lake is the first area you will hunt in. You reach the rest of the list through the areas next to them. For the faster ways around, see Getting around.

Monsters

The three-level rule

What a monster pays depends on how far its level is from yours. It pays full value within three levels either way, then less in steps of three. The level that counts is the one on its name plate.

More than 30Next to nothingNext to nothing
The share of a kill’s full experience you receive. Past thirty levels in either direction a kill pays next to nothing.

Higher level, more experience

A monster’s full value climbs steeply with its level. Within the three-level window, the monsters three levels above you are the best kills you can make. Each kill then pays a random amount between half and all of that value.

Coloured plates pay more

A monster with a coloured name plate is a tougher grade and carries a multiplier on top of its level. The common values in the open world are two and a half, five, ten and fifteen times an ordinary monster of the same level.

Missions pay double per kill

Inside a mission, every kill carries a bonus that the open field does not. On your own, a monster is worth just over twice what the same monster would pay outside, before the clear reward at the end.

Everything else

The rest of your experience

Hunting fills most of the bar, but not all of it. Here is what else pays, and when each one matters.

Quests

From level 10 to the late 50s, a quest at your own level typically pays about a third of a level on its own. From the 60s to the 110s it is closer to a tenth or a quarter. In the 120s and 130s it is only a few per cent, which is the stretch where hunting and missions have to carry you. Quests has the rest.

Missions

Your first clear of each mission pays far more than any repeat. In the Forest of Beasts it is 43,273 experience against 433 for a second clear. Going back for the first clears of missions below your level is still worth it. The numbers are in Missions.

Parties

Nobody’s share is cut. Everyone in the party who is alive and near the kill gets its full experience, multiplied by a bonus that grows with the group. In the open field that is 1.18× with two players, 1.54× with four and 2.62× with ten. The details are in Parties, friends & chat.

The weekend boost

Every Saturday and Sunday, all day, monsters pay 10% more experience at every level from 1 to 177. It adds on top of any other experience boost you have. More on the recurring events is in Events & daily rewards.

Milestones

Every tenth level pays something

The Achievement window has a row for every ten levels, and from 60 up those rows pay real rewards, including a complete Elite 1 set by level 130. See Area Conquest & achievements. Separately, every tenth level from 100 to 170 pays W Coin, once per character: 30 at level 100, 60 at 110, rising by 30 each time to 240 at 170. That is 1,080 in all, and W Coin & the shop covers what it buys.

The curve

How steep it gets

Here is the experience needed for the next level and the total needed to reach it, every ten levels. The bar in the game reads from exactly these numbers.

176910 billion9.10 trillion
17710.0 trillion
Totals are cumulative from level 1. Level 177 is the cap, so it has no next level.

The first hundred levels are the quick part. Everything from 1 to 100 adds up to 280 million experience, about one thirty-six-thousandth of the road to 177. The first sharp step comes at the end of the 90s: level 99 alone asks nearly nine times what level 90 did.

Past 100, almost every level costs between 8 and 17 per cent more than the one before it, and that compounds. There are two exceptions. Level 150 is one sudden jump, more than half as big again as 149. Level 165 actually needs less than 164 did. At level 130 you have earned less than a third of one per cent of the experience needed for 177. Nearly half of all the experience between level 1 and the cap goes into the last seven levels.

In practice, the levels past 130 are a long-term goal rather than a weekend’s work. First clears, the weekend boost and a full party all count for most up there.
