Pets, mounts & costumes

A pet follows you and hands you a bonus for as long as it is fed, and a bigger one once it is fully loyal. A mount carries you faster than you can run. A costume changes how you look without taking a gear slot. Here is what you can get today, where from, and what each one really does.

Pets

Three ways to get a pet

You already have one. Every character is created with a pet in the bag, and there are two more places that hand them out.

Sir Hogsalot

Every new character

Sir Hogsalot, 72 hours

Your starter pet picks up loot for you once he is fully loyal. The 72 hours only count down while he is out, so dismissing him pauses the clock. He is bound to the character: you can’t trade, sell, drop or store him. Once the time is used up he can’t be summoned again.

Ghost pet

Item shop · Pets & Mounts

Thirteen pets at 75 W Coin

Ghost, Golem, Panda, Demon, Chick, Tiger, Penguin, Snowman, Blowfish, Dobermann, Dachshund, Lizardman and Hellhound. They’re permanent, with no timer. The same tab sells a permanent Sir Hogsalot for 10,000 W Coin.

Slime King pet

Area Conquest

Six pets for finishing a region

The first six regions each pay a pet when you take their bar to 100%: Slime King, Contaminated Spider, Ice Queen, Golden Cherry Dragon, Fimbulbert and Tainted Mutant. See Area Conquest for what the rest of each bar pays.

Care

Fullness and loyalty

Every pet has two gauges. Fullness keeps it out and its basic bonus on. Loyalty unlocks the better bonus. Both change only while the pet is summoned; a pet in your bag stays exactly as you left it.

  1. 1

Right-click the pet to summon it

Right-click it again to send it home. Right-clicking a different pet swaps them.
  2. 2

    Keep it fed

Out in the field a pet loses 2 fullness every five minutes, so a full pet lasts a little over four hours of hunting. In town it gains 3 every ten minutes instead. Regular Feed adds 10 fullness at once. The general goods merchants sell it for heim, and you can only feed a pet that is out.
  3. 3

    Let loyalty build

Loyalty only rises out in the field: 3 points every ten minutes the pet is with you. Time in town adds nothing to it.
  4. 4

    Stay alive

Every time you die, your pet loses 10 fullness and 10 loyalty.
Regular Feed

Regular Feed

+10 fullness

The feed you can buy. Stacks, and works on any pet.

Loyalty doesn’t drain

Loyalty never ticks down over time. When it reaches 100 it holds there for 30 minutes and then drops once, to 70. After that it takes 100 more minutes in the field to get back to the top. Dying costs loyalty, but nothing else does.

A starving pet goes home. When fullness hits zero outside town, the pet is dismissed and its bonuses switch off. You can’t summon it again anywhere except town. Summon it there and feed it, or let it refill slowly on its own.

Bonuses

What each pet actually gives you

Each pet has two bonuses. The first is on whenever the pet is out and fed. The second switches on at 60 loyalty and upgrades at 100. Only one loyalty bonus is on at a time: the 100 bonus replaces the 60 bonus rather than adding to it. Below 60, a pet gives you its fed bonus and nothing else.

The first five also add a small bonus against lucky monsters at full loyalty.
Sir Hogsalot

Sir Hogsalot works differently

Sir Hogsalot has no stat bonus at all. At 100 loyalty he picks up the heim and items that drop around you, and below 100 he does nothing. He never needs feeding. His loyalty climbs 50 points every ten minutes out in the field, so he goes from zero to full in twenty minutes. He holds full loyalty for 15 minutes instead of 30, then drops to 70. One more ten-minute stretch in the field brings him back to 100. Keep him out while you hunt and he spends most of that time picking up loot.

Mounts

Getting a mount

All three mount families are sold in Waldchen by Brandon, the groom. He also sells their gear, and his quests give you a free war horse and its gear.

Etherain War Horse

Etherain War Horse

150% speed

Three colours: plain, White and Black. The slowest mount without gear, and the only one whose Brave set you can earn from quests.

Bigfoot Leopard

Bigfoot Leopard

170% speed

Three colours: plain, Black and Mottled. Faster than the war horse until both have their gear on.

Oak Pig

Oak Pig

170% speed

Three colours: plain, White and Black. The same speed as the leopard, in a different body.

For heim

Brandon’s stable

All nine mounts, a Champron, Barding and Boots for each family, and three grades of wax. The mounts and the gear never expire.

Free, from level 38

Brandon’s quests

The Greatest Steed in the World (38) lets you pick one of the three war horse colours. Excellent Equipment for the Greatest Steed (56) gives you the full war horse gear set. Best Equipment 1, 2 and 3 (70, 73, 76) give you the Brave set one piece at a time.

75 W Coin each

The plain-coloured Etherain War Horse, Bigfoot Leopard and Oak Pig are also on the Pets & Mounts tab. They are the same mounts Brandon sells, and just as permanent.

Speed

How fast they go, and the gear that makes them faster

Each mount takes three pieces of gear: a Champron, a Barding and a set of Boots. Gear only fits its own family, so horse gear won’t go on a leopard. Every piece adds speed, and a complete Brave set adds a bonus of its own.

Speeds are a percentage of your normal running speed, and every colour of a mount runs at the same speed. Brandon’s gear is +5 on the Champron, +5 on the Barding and +10 on the Boots. The Brave set is +10, +10 and +15, plus another +30 when all three pieces are on. The only Brave set you can earn today is the war horse’s, from Brandon’s level 70 – 76 quests.
Champron, Barding, Boots

Champron, Barding, Boots

Speed

Permanent, and no upkeep. Their speed only counts while you ride, so they do nothing for you on foot.

Wax

Wax

Looks only

Plain and High Quality Wax give a piece of gear a shine. Eggshell Wax strips it back to matte. The shine is cosmetic and doesn’t change speed.

  1. 1

Right-click the mount in your bag

Summoning takes about a second. You can’t start it mid-jump, mid-skill, while transformed, or while hidden as a Shadow.
  2. 2

    Ride

The mount's speed replaces your own. Movement-speed bonuses from your gear, your pet or buffs don’t carry over while you are riding.
  3. 3

    Watch your back

Take about twenty hits inside ten seconds and you are knocked off. Dying dismounts you too.

Your look

Costumes, wings and badges

A costume is worn from your bag, not an equipment slot. Right-click it to put it on over your armour, and right-click it again to take it off. You can wear one costume at a time, and each one is made for a single class and gender.

Great General Costume

Great General Costume

It costs 250 W Coin for 7 days or 800 for 30. It isn’t only for looks: while you wear it, it adds to your basic damage and defence and gives you +7 to all stats.

Black Wing

Level 100 milestone

Black Wing

Your class’s wings arrive with the level 100 entry in the Area Conquest window. They are equipment, with a slot of their own, and they come with stats: +30 INT, +1,000 Max. HP, +10 Skill Damage and a little Movement Speed.

Beta Tester Badge

The Badge Man in Waldchen hands one to each character through the quest Thank You, Beta Tester. Right-click it to show or hide a gold BETA over your head. While it is on you earn a little more experience and heim and move a little faster. It can’t be traded away.
